NEIGHBOURHOOD-

ARCHAEOLOGICAL MUSEUM

Archaeological Society of India museum, Bodhgaya is opposite of the hotel.
 

Tourist have to buy a ticket to get inside of it.

Adjacent to the museum, but to get inside the park, tourist need to walk 150 meters along the main road to reach the entrance of the park.

CHINESE TEMPLE 
 
The Temple lies to the Opposite side of the park boundary.A 200-year old
 
Buddha statue was brought from China and erected as a sacred shrine.
 
The temple has three striking golden statues of Lord Buddha that are the
 
Central attractions of this place.

The Great Buddha Statue

The Great Buddha statue located 5 min (walking distance) away from the property was designed by V. Ganapati Sthapati and  took seven years to build by 12,000 stonemasons. It is constructed from a combination of sandstone and red granite blocks. At the back of the statue, there's an entrance which leads inside a hollow spiral staircase from the ground to the top of the statue. Shelves on the interior walls display 16,300 small bronze images of the Buddha.The Great Buddha statue is surrounded by smaller sculptures of Buddha's ten principal disciples, five on each side.,It was consecrated on 18 November 1989 by the 14th Dalai Lama.The foundation stone for the statue was laid in 1982.

Daijokyo Japanese Temple

It is next to 80 feet Great Buddha statue was inaugurated by then president of India Mr. Gyani Jail Singh on 13 Feb, 1983.The Main Hall on the first floor enshrines the principal images of Daijokyo i.e. The Eternal Shakyamuni Buddha, Visistacaritra, Anantacaritra, Visuddhacaritra and Supratisthitacaritra. The three-storey pagoda contains reliquary Hall,which enshrines holy relics of Buddha, and Founder's Hall on the second floor, which houses a bronze bust of Tatsuko Sugiyama, the founder of Daijokyo.

Dungeshwari Cave Temple

Drive about 20 km northeast of Gaya to reach the ancient Dungeshwari Cave Temples, also known as Mahakala Caves. It is believed that Lord Buddha meditated in the three caves here before continuing his journey to Bodhgaya.In one of the cave temples, you can see a beautiful golden statue of Buddha, which is about 6 feet tall.
